Scott Shaw was just 17 years old when a diving accident changed his life forever. When he talked about the accident and what happened to him afterward, Scott frequently used the word “support.”

“I know a lot of people with various disabilities, and if they have support and motivation from family and friends, they have something very important,” said Scott Shaw. “Support lets you have a little greater ease and peace of mind. It allows you a better chance to succeed. I’ve got a wonderful wife and three great children that mean a lot to me. And I have many good friends. That’s what is important. “

Scott credited Missouri KIDS and his network of supporters with providing the motivation to “start over again.”

One of Scott’s greatest legacies is the motivation he gave to other Missouri KIDS recipients and their families. Scott eagerly offered his friendship and experience to new recipients.

And, most importantly, he offered them his support.
