Patrick, is the first fully functional SCI quadriplegic in medical history, his story is that of a miracle, and the media knows it. To paraphrase, the legendary Sam Schmidt, Indy 500 race car driver and team owner, Patrick Rummerfield has never met a challenge he didn’t like!

Patrick was paralyzed Sep 20, 1974 at the age 21 in a high-speed (135 MPH) car accident and given less than 72 hours to live. Through sheer determination and the desire to accomplish his childhood dream of racing, he moved his big toe. After seventeen years of intensive rehabilitation he walks today with over 85% of his spinal cord destroyed in his neck at C-4.

Seventeen years of intense physical therapy, of falling down and getting up, scabby elbows and knees on the way to recovery gives a man time to dream greater dreams. Like becoming the first fully functional spinal cord injury quadriplegic to participate in Motor Sports. This will be an historical event and one that will capture the hearts of many.

Seventeen years of exhaustive rehabilitation has resulted in many world records & firsts, 43 to-date!

With uncommon courage, conviction of spirit and genuine humility, Rummerfield has proven himself to be a legend in his own right. He is the world’s first fully-functional spinal cord injury (SCI) quadriplegic to obtain a NHRA competition license, the holder of the FIA World Land Speed Record for electric vehicles (245.5 mph), an IronMan tri-athlete and one of only 82 people in the world to run the Antarctica Marathon.
